Gary Evans, Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs, AUCC

Gary Evans joined the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada as the Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs in December, 2005. Prior to joining AUCC, Mr. Evans was a senior awards officer at the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation in Montreal where he managed the millennium excellence in-course awards. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Evans was a secretariat officer at the federal Voluntary Sector Initiative Secretariat in Ottawa, where he supported the work of the Joint Accord Table in developing a written accord between the government of Canada and the voluntary sector. Prior to 2001, his experience included six years on Parliament Hill where he worked as legislative and communications assistant to two members of Parliament and later served as executive director of operations for the New Democratic Party’s caucus services office. He also acted as the NDP’s national campaign office director during the 2000 federal election. Mr. Evans has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from McGill University and a Masters of Arts in International Affairs from Carleton University.
